Thanksgiving Turkeys - Cute Thanksgiving Treat

Growing up, creating these cute Thanksgiving Turkeys was a tradition. My sister and I looked forward to it every year. They have traveled to each Thanksgiving location, no matter who is hosting. The overall design has stayed consistent. The body of the turkey has changed a few times, all depending on who makes them. They are easy to assemble, tasty, and adorable. Your guest will be in awe and your children will love making them.
Thanksgiving Turkeys - Fun to make with your kids

Equipment
Butter knife or
Frosting spatula
Toothpicks - use sturdy toothpicks (not a cheap or knock off brand) otherwise toothpicks will break when trying to insert to the body or gummy worm
Kitchen scissors or sharp knife
Tips or Tricks
Follow the order of assembling listed in the instructions.
My mom, sister, and I have perfected the best way to assemble over the years making this easy peasy without hassle.
For example - assemble the gobbler first, then attach it to the body prior to adding anything else. Trying to assemble the gobbler very last will give you a headache and most likely cause other pieces to break or fall off.
Length of Time
Prep Time - 10 minutes
Cook time - 30 - 60 minutes
Servings
Serving Size: 1 turkey
Servings: 12
Ingredients
12 fudge stripe cookies
12 of one or mixture of cordial cherries, round truffle chocolates, or miniature peanut butter cups
24 candy corns
12 gummy worms (preferably orange, red and yellow ones) cut in 2/3 pieces using the head portion of the gummy worm
½ cup butter cream frosting
Directions
Assemble the turkey gobblers
Bend down the gummy worm head down 1/3 of the way. Stick a toothpick through the back side through the longest portion into the bottom of the head (so it looks like a gobbler.)
Assemble gobbler to the body
Stick the gummy toothpick through the top of the body (cordial cherry, truffle, or peanut butter cup.)
Assemble the body to the feathers
Add roughly 1/8 tsp frosting to the back of the body (cordial cherry, truffle, or peanut butter cup.) Arrange cookie stripes vertically. Attach the body towards the bottom edge of the cookie.
Assemble the feet to the body
At the bottom of the body add roughly ¼ teaspoon frosting. Attached 2 candy-corns, big portion towards the front.
Let frosting harden. Ready to serve or transport.
Notes
My family likes to place the Thanksgiving Turkeys on each plate setting. A cute, adorable plate accent and personal treat for each person.
