Buttery shrimp and steak. Simple ingredient recipe that takes no time to make.

This Buttered T-Bone Steak and Shrimp is a spinoff of a traditional Christmas dinner. My dad would grill the steak and my mom would broil the shrimp. We would dip our shrimp in melted butter. In this dish, I took the two meats, and put them in the same pan. Their delicious juices infuse into the butter, creating a velvety luscious sauce. Savory and scrumptious.

Equipment

  • Cast iron pan or saucepan

  • Thermometer

Tips or Tricks

  • Always let steak rest prior to cutting. As the steak is heated up, the proteins in the steak coil/tighten and squeeze juices out. The steak needs to rest, allowing time for the proteins to uncoil/loosen to reabsorb the juices.

  • Cut steak against the grain

  • If uncertain on cooking times, cook by temp using a meat thermometer (temps listed below in notes)

  • Cook high heat to sear a steak, then lower the temp to finish cooking the steak

  • Season steak with salt and pepper, with your hand roughly 8” above the steak for an evenly season steak

Length of Time

  • Prep Time - 5 minutes

  • Cook time - 8 - 10 minutes

Servings

  • Serving Size: 1 steak and 10 shrimp

  • Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 T-bone steak

  • 10 shrimp seasoned

  • 2 tablespoon butter

  • Kosher salt

  • Black pepper

Directions

  1. Season the steak with ¾ teaspoon salt and pepper, both sides

  2. Season the shrimp with ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper

  3. Heat saucepan on high

  4. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add steak. Sear for 30 seconds, turn the heat down and cook roughly 3-4 minutes (depends on your preference of doneness)

  5. Flip the steak, turn on high heat again to sear for 30 seconds, turn the heat down and cook roughly 3-4 minutes (depends on your preference of doneness)

  6. Let steak rest for 10 minutes

  7. While the steak is resting, toss in the shrimp and the remaining butter. As it turns white/orange halfway through, flip the shrimp to finish cooking on the other side.

  8. Plate the shrimp and steak together. Drizzle the butter from the saucepan over the steak and shrimp.

  9. Enjoy
