Simple fall snack - Fig & Gruyere Flat Bread

This holiday season, treat your family and/or friends to the delicious Fig & Gruyere Flat Bread. It is easy, has minimal ingredients and is tasty! There is an urban decadence to the dish. Everyone will be wowed. The flatbread is crunchy but soft on the inside and coated with hot buttery honey. The hot honey gives enough sweetness and heat but isn’t overpowering. The gruyere cheese is nutty and savory. The figs have a caramel note and sweetness to contrast with the yummy aromatic garlic.

Equipment

  • Sheet pan

  • Saucepan

  • Parchment paper


Tips or Tricks

  • Use a tong to hold the flat bread when coating in the hot honey mixture


Length of Time

  • Prep Time - 5 minutes

  • Cook time - 12 minutes


Servings

  • Serving Size: 1 - 2 pieces

  • Servings: 16


Ingredients

  • 2 flat bread 8.8 ounces

  • 3 tablespoons salted butter softened

  • 3 garlic cloves minced

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • ½ teaspoon pepper flakes

  • 3 ounces shredded gruyere

  • ½ cup dried fig thinly sliced


Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F

  2. Add parchment paper to sheet pan

  3. Melt butter in a saucepan, add garlic

  4. Once garlic is fragrant, add honey and pepper flakes

  5. Dip flatbread into hot honey mixture, both sides, place on sheet pan

  6. Evenly spread gruyere and figs to each flat bread

  7. Bake for 10 minutes

  8. Serve
