Caramelized tender green beans. Slightly sweet and earthy, with nice touch of kosher salt and burst of black pepper.

Fresh veggies are delicious and an easy side for dinner. Even frozen or canned veggies. But...there are times I am looking for more than a basic veggie side but don't want to go through much hassle. Check out my Black Pepper Roasted Green Bean recipe. I love it. Dump, add seasoning and roast. The little bit of caramelization you get when roasting adds a ton of flavor. It is a whole new side, affordable and didn't take much time at all!

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet

  • Parchment Paper

Tips or Tricks

  • I like to cut the tips of my green beans off to prevent anything “tough” when eating the finished product

  • Pat dry the green beans prior to tossing with the oil and seasoning. If water is left on them (if washed right before using) the beans will steam versus roast preventing caramelization

Length of Time

  • Prep Time - 5 minutes

  • Cook time - 10 minutes

Servings

  • Serving Size: 1/2 batch

  • Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • ½ tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 cups fresh green beans

  • ¼ rounded teaspoon kosher salt (add more if you prefer more salt)

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F

  2. Line baking sheet with parchment sheet

  3. Add green beans parchment paper

  4. Drizzle oil

  5. Add salt and pepper

  6. Mix (I use my hands)

  7. Roast for 10 minutes

Notes

  • If you like more caramelized beans, roast 3-5 minutes longer
